Hilton Head offers vacationers an opportunity to enjoy the sun and sand of a beautiful shoreline, while having access to a host of shopping and dinning options.  Because the Hilton Head vacation area is so spread out, it generally feels less congested than some of its’ South Carolina neighbors like Savanna and Myrtle Beach.  The ample space also presents a number of vacation homes for rent.  In addition to beach activities, Hilton Head offers outlet malls, brand name shopping, independent and chain restaurants, amusement attractions, and local points of interest.

When shopping for a Hilton Head Vacation Rental, there are four main locations to consider. 

-Palmetto Dunes is probably the most popular area.  Located directly off of the main thoroughfare, Palmetto Dunes is close to the Shelter Cove Mall, and plenty of dinning options.  This area is populated primarily with hotels and resorts, but there are a number of vacation rentals available.  A three bedroom vacation home in Palmetto Dunes typically rents for $1500 to $3000 per week, depending on the season.

-The Shipyard is located further south of Palmetto Dunes, near the shopping area of Coligny Plaza.  Coligny Plaza is home to a host of tourist-type shops and number of independent restaurants.   Vacation rentals in this area are usually cheaper than average.  A three bedroom vacation home at The Shipyard normally rents for $750 to $2750 per week, depending on the season.

-Sea Pines Plantation is one of the more exclusive areas in Hilton Head.  Home of Harbour Town and the famous Lighthouse, Sea pines offers upscale shopping from independent store owners.  Because of the density o residential homes in this area, the Sea Pines Plantation has the largest selection of Vacation Homes in the Hilton Head area.  A three bedroom vacation home in the Sea Pines Plantation typically rents for $1500 to $2500 per week, depending on the season.

-Port Royal is located on the north side of Hilton Head.  Out of the four locations listed here, it is the furthest away from the primary attractions.  Nonetheless, Port Royal has a significant inventory of Vacation Rentals to choose from.  Visitors who are looking to escape from the traffic and congestion of the main strip should start their search here. A three bedroom vacation home in Port Royal typically rents for $1500 to $3000 per week, depending on the season.

The greatest asset of choosing Hilton Head for your Vacation Rental destination is the large inventory of upscale homes.  Because of the island’s reputation as a golfing destination, there are a number of fashionable homes that can accommodate ten or more people.  While most these homes are not located directly on the waterfront, the subdivisions provide private access to the beach, often within walking distance.  The more expensive homes also feature their own swimming pool.
